Cork in the south of Ireland is the second largest city in Ireland and a great city to explore with the River Lee running through it. Be sure to visit the English Market, recently visited by Queen Elizabeth and Patrick Street the main shopping street. Nearby to the northwest is Blarney Castle, a 15th century McCarthy Castle. The Blarney Stone is known to bestow the gift of eloquent speech by kissing the stone.

Heading south of Cork Airport in your ConnsIreland Ireland Hertz car you will find the harbour town of Kinsale, the gourmet capital of Ireland. Be sure to sample some of fine restaurants here. At nearby Summercove you can visit Charles Fort, a 17th century star-shaped British fort with its own ghost story. Further to the west you reach Bantry and Kenmare after a spectacular scenic drive. To the east of Cork Airport is Midleton, where you can visit the famous Irish whiskey distillery. To the south and west of there is the harbor town of Cobh, once known as Queenstown. Here you'll find St. Coleman's Cathedral. Be sure to visit the Emigration Museum situated in the old rail station and hear the 'Queenstown Story' of emigration from Ireland over the last two centuries. Cobh was the last port of call for the Lusitania and the Titanic and you'll find exhibits on those two events as well. You can tour east to Youghal (Sir Walter Raleigh was once Mayor) and continue on to Dungarvan and Waterford.
